How to grow Yellow Oyster mushrooms?

Yellow Oyster mushrooms can be grown on a variety of substrates, such as sawdust, wood chips, and even agricultural waste. Thanks to indoor grow kits, it's easy to grow fresh organic mushrooms at home.

Cultivation tips from our specialist

Make openings in the grow bag, loosen the seeded straw to provide oxygen to the mycelium, and mist regularly with water. Keep a stable temperature between 15–20°C and maintain high humidity. Yellow Oyster mushrooms thrive in cool, moist conditions — excessive heat may disrupt their growth.

Composition:

  • Cardboard box 29,5x20x10cm with opening on the top, horizontal format so that the mushrooms cannot fall under the weight of the harvest, with ventilation holes, with pre-cut openings containing 1 transparent, watertight culture bag of substrate inoculated with yellow pleurotus mycelium.
  • Organic farming

Cultivation mode :

How to grow oyster mushrooms in your kitchen ?

  • Open the top of the box and pierce the plastic bag by making a cross
  • Spray, maintain in indirect light and at a temperature close to 20°C. Spray daily for 1-2 weeks harvest.
  • For a new harvest after cutting the first one, remove the bag from the cardboard box, immerse it in a bucket of water overnight, wring it out the next day and resume normal cycle.

How many harvests of organic grey Oyster ?

  • The shoot is normally triggered by opening the windows on the sides, incising then spraying water. The growth is fast and the harvest is done on both sides (being careful not to put one side against the wall) in a week.
  • Once the shoot is launched, nothing can stop it and you have to water 2 times a day with a spray on the leaves and at the roots that come out of the straw.
  • The higher the temperature and the more water is used, the faster the growth. Once all the heads have been cut off (the stems are not edible), completely cut off the dry stem, open the bag and turn the bag 90°.
  • To cut the sides not yet opened. a new crop may intervene and produce again.
  • After this step, you can use the straw in your garden as organic fertilized substrate but will not be able to use it later for a new harvest because the mycelium consumed entirely can no longer give mushrooms.

Our advice on oyster mushrooms: Be careful! The Grey Burdock is sensitive to temperature changes and the growth could be triggered even without watering.

  • Temperatures: The pleurote kit is a waterproof bag containing straw seeded with mycelium and sterilized.
  • Seeding is done in the middle at 5°C and storage is also done at less than 10°C. At this stage, «buds» may appear but do not grow when the kit is stored at 15°C max. On the other hand, temperatures above 20°C trigger growth.
  • Keep the kit in the fridge if you do not want to use it immediately or if it is a gift.

Why mushrooms give white powder? what to do?

If you do not water enough or harvest the mushrooms on time, the mushrooms will start their breeding phase and sporulate. The process of fertilization will give a white powder that is mycelium. This stage marks the end of the harvest, the mushrooms are no longer to eat and a strong smell is emitted. It is time to throw out the growing kit.
