Composition:
1 terracotta pot 6 cm in diameter.
1 sachet of seeds of Bean "vigna" to sow
2 coconut lozenges to rehydrate
Cultivation mode: Planting kit message "You run me on the bean" - Bean to sow
Fertilized soil: To promote successful germination, start by soaking the fertilized coconut lozenges in 5 to 6 times their volume of water: they will instantly swell. Unlayer them and fill the pot with a spoon. Remember to keep a small part to cover the seeds after sowing.
Sowing the Giant Bean seeds inside: Open the bag and pour seeds into your hand. If they are too small, add sand to make it easier to sow. To sow, sprinkle the seeds on the wet soil of coconut not compact, 2 to 3 seeds maximum per pot. Save the remaining seeds for later sowing or to sow directly in your garden or on your balcony when it is sunny. Gently cover the seeds with fertilized coconut soil and tamp lightly.
Watering young vegetables: Ideally use rainwater or filtered water (without chlorine). Prefer a fine rain watering, ideally using a hand spray, to keep the soil just wet, without gorging it with water, throughout the culture. Water the soil, not the leaves, as this can bring disease to young vegetables. Imagine the soil as a wet sponge that is then drained. Do not let the coconut soil dry.
Bean seed germination: Expose to sunlight behind a glass, without putting on top of a heating, to promote rapid and abundant germination. The germination of the beans takes a few days and the plant grows quickly.
Planting Beans: When the seedlings emerge and reach 3 to 5 cm in height, select only one plant per pot and transplant the others into new pots or planters. Water to promote regrowth
Harvest: Stick in your garden by gently bringing the soil to the foot. Keep the soil slightly moist by regular watering. Flowering from May-September and harvest 2 months and a half to 4 months after planting.
Read more: The Kilomètre bean, probably native to South America, is a climbing bean that can exceed 4 m in height, remarkable for its large pods of 60 to 80 cm. A real invitation to the land of giants in the vegetable garden. They contain about ten seeds of variable color.
The dry beans are eaten like other beans but they are of much lower quality. It is best to eat the fresh kilometer bean, more precisely its young tender pods when they are 20 to 30 cm. Their flavor reminds a little of that of asparagus.
