Cultivation mode: Planting kit message "I have the banana" - Banana to sow

Fertilized soil: To promote successful germination, start by soaking the fertilized coconut lozenges in 5 to 6 times their volume of water: they will instantly swell. Unlayer them and fill the pot with a spoon. Remember to keep a small part to cover the seeds after sowing.

Planting Banana seeds indoors: Before sowing, soak the seeds 24 hours in clear water to soften them. Plant a seed in the pot by pushing it down 1 cm, taking care to put the ear (flat part) of the seed on the side. Save the other for a later sowing or to sow directly on your balcony when it is good. Gently cover the seeds with fertilized coconut soil and tamp lightly.

Watering exotic plants: Ideally use rainwater or filtered water (without chlorine). Prefer a fine rain watering, ideally using a hand spray, to keep the soil just wet, without gorging it with water, throughout the culture. Imagine the soil as a wet sponge and then wrung out. Do not let the coconut soil dry.

Germination of the seed of banana: Expose to sunlight behind a glass, without putting on top of a heating, to promote a rapid and abundant germination. Alternatively, from April onwards, expose your balcony, window sill or terrace to the sun. Banana seeds can take a week to germinate and then grow quickly if well watered.

Planting Banana: When the seedlings emerge and reach 5 cm in height, select only one plant per pot and transplant the others into new pots or planters. Be careful to be delicate, not to break the stems or roots when transplanting. Water to promote regrowth and the plant will quickly grow.

Harvest: The banana will grow very quickly, a few cm per day (not even with the naked eye). On the other hand, it is an ornamental variety so without grafting or crossing with another banana, it will give a decorative banana diet.

Note: The banana is a hardy plant that can withstand small occasional frosts up to -5°C.
